CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SAFETY CERTIFICATE

This course opens the doors to opportunity in the customer service industry with a focus on food and related disciplines. The course will cover soft skills like workplace communications and work ethics as well as skills for cashier operator, and serving it right and food safe. This certificate program will provide the basic requirements to meet the needs of employers within the food and beverage business as well as general customer service. Subjects will include basic computer skills, such as Word and Excel. This certificate program is 92 Hours long.

OFA 1

This one-day certification course meets first aid requirements for Work Safe BC OFA Level 1. Upon successful completion, candidates will be issued a Work Safe BC Occupational First Aid certificate. Participants will learn emergency scene management, minor wound care, CPR and AED training. This course is for British Columbia only all other provinces it is the 2-day Standard First Aid

TRANSPORTATION ENDORSEMENT

This one-day certification course focuses specifically on the transport of injured workers to medical aid. There will be a review of OFA 1 standard and critical airway breathing and C-spine management. This course will cover patient handling and lifting techniques as well as spine board and basket immobilization.

WORKPLACE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INFORMATION SYSTEM WHMIS – 2015 GHS

This comprehensive WHMIS 2015 GHS Certification program has been developed in accordance with Work Safe BC requirements for the training of persons who manufacture, work with or are ‘in proximity to’ hazardous materials in the workplace. WHMIS has aligned with the worldwide hazard communication system known as GHS – the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. Aligning with GHS provides many benefits, which will be discussed in the training. With WHMIS 2015 there will be new classification rules, new hazard pictograms, new supplier label requirements, and new format for Safety Data Sheets.

PROFESSIONAL WORK ETHICS

This course is designed to give the participant an understanding of good general ethics in the workplace and is based on best practice. The course gives a solid overview of professional business ethics at work and in life. CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING

This course provides the participant with the knowledge to provide exceptional customer service. We are aware that our customer is a very important asset to the company or organization that we work for and being able to provide exceptional customer service is that component that can set us apart from the competition.

BASIC WORKPLACE COMMUNICATIONS

This course is designed to give the participants an overview of good communications skills and to build confidence in communicating with others in the workplace. The course provides an overview of the expectations and responsibilities of a worker in the workplace, as it relates to communication. It also provides an overview of the employer’s responsibility to the worker, as it relates to communication between the worker and the employee.

WORKPLACE BULLYING & HARASSMENT

Work place bullying and harassment is an issue of growing concern. It can take many forms from verbal abuse to aggression. This course provides workers, supervisors and managers the tools to recognise and to deal with bullying and harassment in the workplace.

FOOD SAFE

FOODSAFE Level 1 is a food handling, sanitation and work safety course designed for front line food service workers such as cooks, servers, bussers, dishwashers, and deli workers. The course covers important food safety and worker safety information including foodborne illness, receiving and storing food, preparing food, serving food, cleaning and sanitizing. The BC Health Act: Food Premises Regulation states that every operator of a food service establishment, and at least one employee on every shift, must hold a FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate, or certificate from a course recognized as equivalent to FOODSAFE

SERVING IT RIGHT

Serving It Right is British Columbia’s mandatory self-study course that educates licensees, managers and servers about their legal responsibilities when serving alcohol, and provides effective techniques to prevent problems related to overservice.

VIOLENCE IN THE WORKPLACE

The purpose of this course is to give a practical solution to developing a workplace violence prevention program. Verbal abuse, arguments, property damage, vandalism, sabotage, physical assaults, psychological trauma and rape are all examples of workplace violence.

INTRODUCTION TO CASHIER

This course will introduce the participants to the very important job as a cashier. Operating a cash register is a big responsibility as you will be handling not only the customer’s payment but also the company’s cash. There are very defined skills that are required for this job, they include, literacy, numeracy, listening, problem solving, teamwork, writing. Cashiers operate cash registers, optical price scanners, computers, credit/debit card machines or other equipment to record and accept payment for the purchase of goods, services, and admissions. They are employed in stores, restaurants, theatres, business offices, and other retail and wholesale establishments. You will learn how all these skills come together to make a good cashier.

BASIC COMPUTER SILLS – MICROSOFT

MS Word: In this course, you will learn how to use Word to create and edit simple documents; format documents; add tables and lists; add design elements and layout options; and proof documents. You will also learn how to insert pictures, add shapes, add page numbering and use WordArt.

MS Excel: In this course, you will learn how to use this very important tool, for creating budgets, calculating costs, working with formulas, creating percentages, merging cells, creating charts, inserting page breaks and inserting pictures.

MS Outlook: In this course, you will learn how to set up your e-mail, sending and receiving, creating carbon and blind carbon copies, and creating file folder to manage your e-mails as well as creating an address book, working with the task and calendar options.

MS Power Point: In this course, you will learn how to create a captivating slide presentation. You will learn how to create backgrounds and colourful slides, insert text boxes and insert pictures or graphs, learn about animations and transitions. Project: During your learning experience, you will complete a project that will bring together the skills you have learned in each of the above programs. You will have the opportunity to put together a power point presentation that shows off your newly acquired skills.
