INDUSTRIAL SAFETY CERTIFICATE
This certificate program is ideal for the person who is working in the manufacturing or similar industry, where safety is a priority. The course provides insight into the responsibility that is incumbent on the supervisor as well as provides skills for accident and incident investigation and information pertaining to joint occupational health and safety committees. The program also covers first aid as well as WHMIS and TDG. This course runs over a 52-hour period (6.5 days).
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY FOR SAFETY
The supervisor responsibility for safety course consists of 8 hours of comprehensive practical training. The course provides the supervisor with a clear understanding of the reasons and need for due diligence and the implications of the legislation surrounding safety in the workplace. The course also deals with new and young worker orientation giving the supervisor the knowledge to implement and teach safer workplace practices in order to modify safety behaviour resulting in a safer work environment.
JOINT OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY TRAINING – Work Safe BC
Employers are responsible for establishing workplace health and safety committees. Most Canadian health and safety legislation set guidelines for organizing the committee, the structure of the committee, meeting frequency, and the roles and responsibilities of committee members. This course provides the information necessary to lay the ground work for the establishment of a joint occupational health and safety committee.
ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION TRAINING
This course deals with the concepts and methods that can help you to implement and perform effective accident investigations. The course will provide you with the information and examples guidelines required to identify accidents from incidents. It will teach you how to conduct interviews, complete scene visits, complete evaluations, report writing and follow-up to accidents.
CREW TALKS/TAILGATE TALKS
This course lays the foundation for safety in the work environment. It addresses the need for pre-workplace activity and the need to address safe working on a daily basis. The course will discuss the stakeholders involved in the commitment towards safe working practices as well as the roles and responsibilities of the worker, the supervisor and the employer.
LOCKOUT/TAGOUT
This comprehensive lockout-tag out in the workplace course covers the steps to correctly lock out and tag out equipment, devices used for lockout-tag out and the elimination of potentially fatal hazards through implementation of proper lockout- tag out procedures. This course also covers the legal requirements surrounding the lockout of equipment, potential consequences of not following the procedures and how to create and maintain a written workplace lockout-tag out program.
WORKPLACE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INFORMATION SYSTEM WHMIS – 2015 GHS
This comprehensive WHMIS 2015 GHS Certification program has been developed in accordance with Work Safe BC requirements for the training of persons who manufacture, work with or are ‘in proximity to’ hazardous materials in the workplace. WHMIS has aligned with the worldwide hazard communication system known as GHS – the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. Aligning with GHS provides many benefits, which will be discussed in the training. With WHMIS 2015 there will be new classification rules, new hazard pictograms, new supplier label requirements, and new format for Safety Data Sheets.
TRANSPORTATION OF DANGEROUS GOODS
The Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Act sets important standards for the movement of harmful materials and chemicals within Canada. These regulations protect the public and all individuals involved in transporting the dangerous goods by defining dangerous goods and setting specific rules for their transport.
OFA 1
This one-day certification course meets first aid requirements for Work Safe BC OFA Level 1. Upon successful completion, candidates will be issued a Work Safe BC Occupational First Aid certificate. Participants will learn emergency scene management, minor wound care, CPR and AED training. This course is for British Columbia only all other provinces it is the 2-day Standard First Aid
