This one-day course offers an overview of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the workplace or home, including injury prevention, CPR and AED. Upon successful completion, candidates will be issued a Red Cross certificate.

STANDARD FIRST AID
This comprehensive two-day course offers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home, including injury prevention, CPR and AED. Upon successful completion, candidates will be issued a Red Cross certificate.

- How to deal with airway emergencies, breathing and circulation emergencies
- First aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest, head and spine injuries, bone, muscle and joint injuries
- Wound care – minor and major

CPR-C
This 4-hour certification course covers current CPR protocols and breathing emergencies for infants, children and adults; AED; first aid for bleeding; and emergency care prevention skills such as cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke and choking management to the Lay Rescuer guideline. Students are trained to CPR-C, which is higher than other Community Care courses. This course meets the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada CPR, Defibrillation, and Emergency Cardiovascular Care Lay Rescuer Guidelines.
Recertification is available for this course in year 2 and 3.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID & CPR-C
This 8-hour course is targeted to child and adult care provides, as well as the general public. Students are trained to CPR-C, which is higher than other Community Care courses. This course meets Ministry of Healthy Living, Sports First Aid and Canadian Labour Code requirements for Basic First Aid. It also meets provincial and Canadian Occupation Health and Safety regulations.

- Sudden illness and injury emergency care skills for the occupational first aid provider
- First aid for head and spine injuries, bone, muscle and joint injuries

HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL FIRST AID
This 6 hour course would benefit healthcare providers, emergency medical services personnel, dentists, nurses, respiratory therapists, firefighters, lifeguards, correctional and police officers, industrial response team, and first responders that have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency based on job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. HCP is a Health Care Professional level which adds the skills of practicing bag valve mask use and two rescuer CPR skills.
Course Content:
- CPR and breathing emergencies in adults, infants, and children
- AED and bag valve mask ventilation
- First aid for bleeding
- Emergency care prevention skills such as cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke, and choking management
All successful candidates will be issued Canadian Red Cross CPR certificates.

MARINE BASIC FIRST AID TRAINING AND CPR
This 2-day course in emergency care is designed for the marine first aid attendant and offers training in first aid and CPR skills for the marine/fishing industry. This training is a combination of the Standard First Aid and CPR-C. This course meets Transport Canada’s training standards for marine Basic First Aid TP 13008.
This course is intended for the seafarer who is designated to apply immediate first aid in the event of an accident or illness on board a vessel or for any person who wants to obtain a rating certificate, endorsement, or a Master or Chief Mate limited certification, and for those providing first aid on board a vessel engaged on a near-coastal voyage, class 2, or on a vessel on sheltered waters.
Duration – 16 hours

Certificate Expiry – Two certificates are issued, both with a 3-year expiry
